Breck AMP Release

There will be a release party on Saturday, September 12th for the Breckenridge Authentic Music Project, the project which I have been producing for the past few months. The record spans multiple genres from 13 local Breckenridge artists and was recorded and mixed by myself and mastered by David Glasser at Airshow in Boulder. I also played a heap of different instruments to develop the songs in accordance with the songwriters’ needs.

There’s more information about the project, artist photos, and audio samples at the Breckords website. Some other documentation for the event and the record can be found through the links below:

Russick Smith @ Breck Int’l Festival of Arts

SATURDAY AUGUST 15, 2015 6PM
Festival Square
114 E Washington Street, Breckenridge, CO 80424

The main performance I’ll be doing will be solo set on the Festival Square stage with a whole slew of cello pieces and, by popular demand,  some lyrically-gymnastic numbers as well.  The show is part of the Breckenridge International Festival of Arts (BIFA) and an opening set for the band Edison out of Denver.

Additionally, I’ll also be playing as part of the Trail Mix series of pop-up events taking place around the trails network of Breckenridge. The events combine art, music, hiking and biking along the trails of Breckenridge through free outdoor concerts and environmental installations. There are a bunch of these acts that will be happening throughout the week with a variety of different performers. The two spots where you can find me will be:

Friday August 14th, 2015
4-4:30pm
Illinois Creek Trailhead
(with Shaun Vrooman on Mandolin)

Saturday August 22nd, 2015
2:30-3pm
Moonstone Trailhead
(solo cello)

One of the Faces of the Breck Arts District

When I am out playing in town, a lot of people take pictures of me. But a little while ago photographer Liam Doran came by to shoot some photos on contract for the new Breckenridge Arts District. At that time, he didn’t know how they would be used but they’re starting to show up around town and online. I bumped into the CEO of Breck’s Cultural Arts who generously complimented on my work and told me that I would probably be seeing more photos of myself used in conjunction with the Arts District as the year progresses. So far, I’m online here and on flyers around town as part of a collage like this one:
